Divine Nature #2- Required- Part 1

This experience requires me to read a scripture and two talks about womenhood from a conference magazine (aka Ensign Conference Edition). Then I have to ask my mother what are some important attributes to a mother in her opinion. For two weeks I have to strive to strenthen these attributes. So today what I am going to do is record the attributes from my readings and the attributes that I have learned from my mother.

Attributes of Womanhood that I Learned From Proverbs 31:10-31
  • Her husband has to fully trust in her
  • Her worth is more than rubies
  • She will treat her husband well
  • She will not be evil in all her days
  • She will take care of her children and people in her household even in the night
  • She will be spiritually stenthened (in the readings in talks about physical but I take it as a implication to spiritual)
  • Her "candle" will not go out- even at night
  • She helps the poor and the needy
  • Her family and household members are all clothed and taken care of
  • She makes things that are important in life
  • Her husband is know to the elderly by her good works
  • Her "clothing" is strenghening
  • She will only speak with wisdom and kindness
  • She will not be idle at any times
  • Her children and husband will praise her

One of the talks that I decided to read was actually from this past conference. It is called "Daughters of God" by Richard M. Ballard. I know that the title does not say Womanhood or Mothers but I take it unto myself (man reading all these scriptures is wearing off on me. I could literally not think of another way to put it!) that Daughters of God are the proper Women in this world... the faithful ones which insludes Mothers. This is some of the attributes of a daughter of God has:

  • She will be considerate enough that when she is in her time of need her husband or children will take care of her
  • She will be loved by god no matter what her circumstances are
  • She will be praised by her husband when he served as a counsiler for 10 years and never sat with them at church and then the time comes that he is released and she is in the chior where for the first time for an hour he has to take care of 7 children :)
  • She will make sacrifices for the people around her
  • She will be able to learn that every woman or mother has different quailties and skill
  • The mother in a family is primarily responsible for the nuture of her children
  • She knows that she will have times of frustration and anger
  • She will realize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments
  • She will not rush her life with her children or loved ones... she will cherish every moment
  • She does not over scheduale herself or her children each day
  • She needs to pray, study, and teach the gospel
  • She loves when she hears thank you from her kids

The second talk that I decided to read is "Divorce" by Elder Dallin M. Oaks. Now I know that you think this may not talk about Mothers or Women in general... but I think that it will. The reason that I think it will because I believe that within this talk it is going to give some reasons for divorce or ways to act strong. I LOVE the quote at the top it says, "A good marriage does not require a perfect man or a perfect woman. It only requires a man and a woman committed to strive together toward perfection." So here are some of the qualities I discover reading this!

  • She needs to have the value that when a marriage is failing make it work
  • She needs to not let things that her parents do or other around her do affect her and who she becomes
  • She needs to commit herself to not have sex outside of marriage or do not commit adultry when you are married
  • She needs to realize that a marriage within temple covenants is for eternity
  • She needs to think first of her children and the people around her
  • She needs to see the bishop with her is having moral issues
  • She needs to not focus on the wrong doing of her spose or people around her
  • She needs to not blame herself for others mistakes
  • She needs to seriously consider the pluses and minues of marriage before she makes the commitment
  • She needs to leave her trust in the lord fir all her problems.

ok! That is it for now. Now I have to try to strive and do these things for two weeks and then I will report back and talk about my experience and how it helped me!

My Personal Progress Journey!

Well I lost my last book for personal progess and decided what the heck! I am going to start over with a fresh slate. And instead of a diary (when it asks you to use one) I am going to post in this blog! It will make the experience alot more enjoyable for me and it's a creative idea. Even if you don't have to write in the diary about the lesson or activity in the personal progess I am still going to post about my wonderful experience!

Hope that my ideas create sparks in your mind!
